Seeking an experienced Data Architect to design, deliver, and evolve a large-scale Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) in a regulated financial services environment. - Own and support architecture and design of Enterprise Data Warehouse solutions
- Analyse source systems, data flows, business requirements, and downstream needs
- Perform Teradata SQL investigations, technical analysis, and solution validation
- Collaborate with stakeholders, engineers, testers, and architects to define and validate designs
- Evaluate architectural options and recommend scalable, standards-aligned solutions
- Produce and maintain architecture deliverables (HLDs, ADDs, design rationale, governance docs)
- Present proposals and recommendations to Architecture Boards and governance forums
- Embed data governance principles into solution designs
Key requirements
Must-have
- 5+ years’ experience in Data Architecture or as Senior Data Engineering Lead with architecture ownership
- Hands-on experience with Teradata in on-premises EDW environments
- Advanced SQL skills for data investigation and technical validation
- Experience with Teradata Financial Services Data Model or similar
- Knowledge of Enterprise Data Warehousing, Data Mart design, Data Integration patterns, large-scale data platform delivery
- Experience in Banking, Financial Services, or regulated environments
- Understanding of regulatory data requirements (BCBS239, RDARR, Regulatory Reporting, Data Traceability, Auditability, control frameworks)
- Data analysis and data modelling capability, including source-to-target analysis
Nice-to-have
- Experience with Inmon-style integrated Enterprise Data Warehouse architecture
Experience: 5+ years in Data Architecture or equivalent as Senior Data Engineering Lead with architecture ownership

Data Architect – Enterprise Data Warehouse (Teradata) Day Rate Contract
We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to join our enterprise data team, supporting the design, delivery, and evolution of a large-scale Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) within a highly regulated financial services environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Data Architect—or a Senior Data Engineering Lead with demonstrable architecture ownership—to play a key role in shaping enterprise data solutions, driving architectural best practice, and supporting strategic regulatory and business initiatives.
Working closely with business stakeholders, engineering teams, architects, and governance forums, you will be responsible for delivering scalable, pragmatic, and well-governed data architecture solutions.
Key Responsibilities

Own and support the architecture and design of Enterprise Data Warehouse solutions.

Analyse source systems, data flows, business requirements, and downstream consumption needs.

Perform Teradata SQL investigations, technical analysis, and solution validation where required.

Collaborate with business stakeholders, engineers, testers, delivery leads, and peer architects to define and validate solution designs.

Evaluate architectural options and recommend pragmatic, scalable, and standards-aligned solutions.

Produce and maintain architecture deliverables including:

High Level Design (HLD) documents
-
Architecture Design Decisions (ADDs)
-
Solution options and design rationale
-
Assumptions, risks, and governance documentation
-
Present architecture proposals and recommendations to Architecture Boards and governance forums.

Embed data governance principles including metadata management, lineage, reconciliation, auditability, privacy, regulatory compliance, and controls into solution designs.

Support delivery teams throughout build, testing, implementation, and production issue resolution.
Essential Skills & Experience
-
Minimum 5+ years’ experience in Data Architecture, or equivalent experience as a Senior Data Engineering Lead with architecture ownership.

Strong hands-on experience working with Teradata in an on-premises Enterprise Data Warehouse environment.
-
Advanced SQL skills with proven experience in data investigation, issue analysis, and technical validation.
-
Practical experience using the Teradata Financial Services Data Model (FSDM) or a comparable financial services data model.

Strong knowledge of:

Data Integration patterns

Large-scale data platform delivery

Previous experience within Banking, Financial Services, or other highly regulated environments.

Evidence-based control frameworks

Strong data analysis and data modelling capability, including source-to-target analysis and relationship modelling.

Working knowledge of ETL processes and technologies, ideally Informatica and/or IBM DataStage.

Experience designing or implementing metadata-driven ingestion, transformation, reconciliation, control, or data delivery frameworks.

Knowledge of Control-M or similar enterprise scheduling and orchestration tools.

Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience presenting solutions to senior business stakeholders, Architecture Boards, governance forums, and peer architecture teams.

Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality governance-ready architecture documentation.

Strong analytical thinking, sound judgement, and the confidence to challenge constructively while driving decisions to successful outcomes.

Experience with, or strong appreciation of, an Inmon-style integrated Enterprise Data Warehouse architecture.
