What you'll be doing

Senior Technical Cloud Architect (contract, hybrid Dublin) for a global financial institution's multi-year cloud transformation.   • Champion Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation and cloud engineering best practices
  • Design data architecture solutions for regulatory reporting obligations

Key requirements

Must-have

  • Proven track record delivering large-scale cloud migration programmes in global financial services
  • Deep expertise in enterprise cloud architecture and transformation
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of AWS cloud technologies and cloud-native architecture
  • Experience supporting regulatory reporting platforms (ideally including AXIOM)
  • Understanding of financial services technology and regulatory reporting ecosystems
  • Experience with global delivery organisations and distributed teams
  • Knowledge of financial products and asset classes (Fixed Income, Equities, Commodities)
  • Understanding of architecture governance, technology risk and control frameworks

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with regulatory reporting frameworks (COREP, FINREP, FRTB, Stress Testing, FR Y Reports, FFIEC)
  • Exposure to cloud-based data platforms and modern data architecture in regulated environments

Experience: Senior-level; proven track record in large-scale cloud migration and enterprise cloud architecture within global financial services organisations

  • Client: Global Tier 1 Financial Institution

Our client, a leading global financial institution, is undertaking a significant multi-year cloud transformation programme aimed at modernising its global Regulatory Finance Technology landscape. Supporting regulatory reporting functions across EMEA, North America, APAC, Canada and LATAM, the organisation is investing heavily in cloud-native architecture, strategic platform modernisation and regulatory reporting innovation.

As part of this transformation, an opportunity has arisen for a Senior Cloud Architect to provide technical leadership across large-scale cloud migration initiatives and drive the design of scalable, secure and compliant cloud solutions supporting critical regulatory reporting platforms.

This is a highly visible position operating across global teams and senior stakeholders within Finance, Risk, Regulatory Reporting and Technology functions.

The Opportunity

You will play a pivotal role in defining and governing cloud architecture strategy while supporting the migration of complex regulatory reporting platforms to modern cloud environments. The role combines enterprise architecture, cloud transformation, data architecture and regulatory technology expertise within a highly regulated global environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve enterprise cloud architecture principles, standards and governance frameworks.
  • Design scalable, resilient and secure cloud solutions supporting global regulatory reporting platforms.
  • Develop and execute cloud migration strategies leveraging AWS and SaaS-based solutions across single and multi-tenant environments.
  • Ensure alignment with regulatory, security, compliance and data governance requirements.
  • Lead architecture reviews, governance forums and technical design approvals.
  • Drive optimisation across performance, scalability, reliability and cloud cost management.
  • Champion Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation and cloud engineering best practices.
  • Design data architecture solutions to support complex regulatory reporting obligations.
  • Ensure robust data lineage, traceability, auditability and reporting controls.
  • Support reconciliation processes and data quality frameworks.
  • Ensure adherence to regional data residency requirements and regulatory constraints.
  • Maintain compliance with enterprise SDLC standards, cloud governance policies and control frameworks.
  • Collaborate with global technology, business and vendor teams to deliver migration objectives across multiple regions.
  • Partner with Finance, Risk and Regulatory Reporting stakeholders to align architecture with strategic business outcomes.
  • Work closely with compliance, cybersecurity and third-party vendors to ensure adherence to security and regulatory standards.
  • Support the development of target operating models, migration roadmaps and strategic technology plans.
  • Engage with SMEs, engineering teams and testing functions to translate business and technical requirements into scalable architecture solutions.
  • Participate in programme governance, steering committees and delivery forums to monitor progress and manage architectural change.

Required Experience

Essential

  • Proven track record delivering large-scale cloud migration programmes within global financial services organisations.
  • Deep expertise in enterprise cloud architecture and cloud transformation initiatives.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of AWS cloud technologies and cloud-native architecture patterns.
  • Experience supporting regulatory reporting platforms, ideally including AXIOM.
  • Strong understanding of financial services technology environments and regulatory reporting ecosystems.
  • Experience operating across global delivery organisations with distributed teams.
  • Knowledge of major financial products and asset classes including Fixed Income, Equities and Commodities.
  • Strong understanding of architecture governance, technology risk and control frameworks.
  • Experience working within Agile, Scaled Agile and hybrid delivery methodologies.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively from engineering teams through to executive leadership.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting regulatory reporting frameworks such as COREP, FINREP, FRTB, Stress Testing, FR Y Reports, FFIEC and related regulatory submissions.
  • Exposure to cloud-based data platforms and modern data architecture practices within regulated environments.
