Our Custody and Investor Services Technology organization is seeking an experienced, versatile Technical Architect to drive platform modernization, technical governance, and forward-engineering initiatives across our global Custody business.
In this flexible, multi-disciplinary role, you will be deployed across critical functional domains within Custody based on evolving program priorities-including Securities Settlements, Asset Servicing (Corporate Actions), Transaction Management, Tax, and Cash & FX Processing. You will act as the principal technical authority and architecture partner within assigned delivery teams, bridging the gap between business product requirements, operational workflows, and engineering execution.
A core strength of the ideal candidate is a solid foundational background in software development (ideally Java and Oracle ecosystems). While you will not be expected to write production code on a day-to-day basis, your deep engineering fluency will enable you to evaluate technical designs, challenge engineering decisions with rigor, build hands-on Proofs of Concept (PoCs) when exploring new technologies, and leverage Generative AI capabilities to accelerate discovery and governance.
2.1 Solution Architecture & Domain Modernization (Flexible Deployment)
-
Domain-Agnostic Solution Architecture: Architect and deliver robust, scalable solution designs across various Custody domains asprioritized by the business:Settlements & Transaction Management: Real-time trade matching, routing, orchestration, and settlement instruction lifecycle.
-
Asset Servicing: Corporate actions event processing, notifications, elections, and entitlement calculations.
-
Tax Processing: Withholding tax calculations, regulatory reporting integrations, and tax documentation workflows.
-
Cash & FX Processing: Liquidity management, payments integration, real-time cash ledgering, and FX execution.
Microservices & Event-Driven Patterns: Design modern domain-driven microservices, event-streaming architectures (e.g., Kafka, messaging middleware), and RESTful/OpenAPI integration layers to replace legacy monolithic and batch-oriented systems.Enterprise Data Architecture: Define low-latency, resilient data pipelines and data-sharing integration patterns interfacing with core internal ledgers, market infrastructures (SWIFT, Euroclear, Clearstream, DTCC), and enterprise cloud data platforms (AWS, Snowflake).Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs): Define and enforce enterprise standards for high availability, fault tolerance, transaction idempotency, horizontal scalability, disaster recovery, and auditability. 2.2 Architecture Governance & Permit to Build (P2B)
-
Permit to Build (P2B) Oversight: Lead the evidence-based Permit to Build (P2B) process for assigned programs and Epics, ensuring full architectural justification, risk mitigation, and compliance with enterprise standards prior to build phases.
-
AI-Driven Governance Adoption: Utilize and contribute to modernized, AI-assisted architecture review tools to ensure rapid review turnaround and consistent governance across delivery streams.
-
Technical Debt Management: Proactively identify, document, and categorize technical debt at the Epic level, ensuring remediation plans are clearly owned and tracked.
-
Third-Party Evaluation & FIT Governance: Support technical evaluations for third-party software products and vendor platforms, conducting structured decision blueprinting (build vs. buy) to ensure architectural fit and financial efficiency.
3.1 Domain & Capital Markets Knowledge -
8-12+ years of progressive technology experience within Securities Services, Investment Banking or Capital Markets.
-
Deep functional knowledge in at least one (and familiarity with several) core Custody domains:
