Lead DevOps Engineer (Contract – Day Rate)

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead DevOps Engineer on behalf of our client in the financial industry.

This is a pivotal role for an experienced leader who can combine deep technical expertise with exceptional people and stakeholder management skills. You'll be responsible for driving DevOps strategy, ensuring seamless delivery pipelines, and managing a high-performing engineering team in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of DevOps engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability

  • Drive the design, implementation, and optimization of CI/CD pipelines to support software delivery

  • Manage relationships with key business and technical stakeholders to ensure alignment on goals and priorities

  • Oversee cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS/Azure/GCP), ensuring scalability, security, and reliability

  • Champion automation, monitoring, and observability practices across engineering teams

  • Contribute to strategic decision-making regarding architecture, tooling, and processes Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Lead DevOps Engineer or DevOps Manager in complex environments

  • Strong leadership and people management skills — proven ability to develop and inspire teams

  • Exceptional stakeholder management experience; comfortable influencing at all levels

  • Deep understanding of modern DevOps practices: CI/CD, automation, IaC, and cloud-first architectures

  • Hands-on expertise with tools such as Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and modern monitoring stacks

  • Strong background in AWS – essential

  • Strong background in Platform Engineers – essential
