Are you ready to join a game-changing open-source AI platform that harnesses the power of hybrid cloud to drive innovation?
The Agent Operations team within Red Hat AI (RHAI) is looking for a Software Engineer (New Grad) to join us in Ireland. Our team builds the infrastructure that allows AI agents to run securely and reliably on Kubernetes and OpenShift, including the OpenShell project, an open-source platform for agent orchestration, identity, and sandboxing. This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of AI, cloud-native infrastructure, and security, contributing to technology that defines how autonomous agents are deployed, governed, and trusted in production.
As a new grad you will be part of a fast-paced and diverse group of engineers working worldwide to create value for our customers and partners while also being part of open source communities. You will be assigned a mentor to help you transition into your new role; they will assist you in anything you require, from engineering to personnel issues. You will pair-program with experienced engineers which will significantly help your growth as a developer. You will have free access to the acclaimed Red Hat University courses and Udemy. You will attend comprehensive training events and presentations to support your continuous growth.

What will you do:
- Perform engineering tasks under the direction of an experienced engineer
- Become an active member of an agile development team, both scrum and kanban
- Learn to collaborate and innovate with other engineers in your team
- Troubleshoot technical issues and help deliver creative solutions
- Work both on your own, remotely, and collaboratively with others in your team
- Help mentor interns or transition year students, transferring your learned skills to them
- Contribute to the open-source community
- Proactively utilize AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Codex, Cursor, Claude Code) for code generation, auto-completion, and intelligent suggestions to accelerate development cycles and enhance code quality.
What will you bring:
- Recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical discipline
- Growth mindset; willingness to learn and challenge yourself
- Ability to give and receive feedback in a meaningful manner
- Passion for problem-solving and debugging technical issues
- Written and verbal communication skills in English
- Some working knowledge/understanding of Git usage and workflows (Git workshops are provided for all new grads when they join).
- A good understanding of scripting and programming with languages such Python, Golang, Rust
- A basic understanding or knowledge of Linux operating systems
- Some understanding of configuration management, automation tools, and containerisation technologies.
- Active online presence (e.g. GitHub) with interest in community development is a plus.
