Full job description

About Wayflyer

Today's small businesses need a capital provider that keeps pace with their growth ambitions. Traditional financing options are slow, cumbersome and often out of reach. That's why we built Wayflyer.

Our technology allows us to assess businesses in minutes, generate financing offers that reflect their growth potential and send funds in as little as 24 hours. To date, we've deployed over $6bn to thousands of businesses worldwide, backed by Tier 1 banks like J.P. Morgan.

You'll be collaborating with ambitious colleagues from around the world. We have offices in Dublin, London, New York, Charlotte, Berlin and Sydney.

The challenge

When a founder applies for funding, one flow carries them from application to money in their account - the processes that assess their business in minutes and the product experience that makes it feel effortless are all part of the same system. Our full stack engineers are the ones who can follow a feature all the way through: from the data model, to the API, to the screen a founder trusts with their business.

That doesn't mean being equally deep everywhere. Most of our full stack engineers have a home base - backend or frontend - and range outward from it. We're hiring for that shape.

What you'll actually do

  • Own features end-to-end: shape solutions with product and design, build across the API andthe UI, ship to production to create outcomes, not just deliver tickets

  • Lean into your specialism - whether that's backend architecture, data modelling andperformance, or frontend architecture, accessibility and user experience - and act as thego-to person for it on your team

  • Design and develop backend services using Python and Django, including the data models and RESTful APIs that power our financial products

  • Build high-quality, reusable frontend features using TypeScript and React

  • Write clean, testable code with strong test coverage across the stack (pytest on thebackend; Storybook/Chromatic, Playwright and Vitest on the frontend)

  • Participate in code reviews on both sides of the stack in order to share knowledge and improve the quality of our solutions

Who thrives here

You should be comfortable making and defending decisions about the experience you’re building, while remaining open to feedback and alternative approaches. You'll need to balance technical excellence with business needs and help guide the team toward good solutions that elevate the experience as quickly as possible.

You excel at stakeholder management and can effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences. You're proactive in identifying and addressing potential issues before they become problems. We look for candidates with most or all of the below traits that can point to real experience applying them.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalentpractical experience

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with genuine depth - we'll play to your strengths

  • Useful skills include a strong proficiency in Python and Django (or similarframeworks like FastAPI or Flask), SQL databases (preferably PostgreSQL), and API design —plus working proficiency in TypeScript and React and a real appetite to build product UI

  • We also value advanced proficiency in TypeScript and React, experiencewith modern frontend architectures, state management (e.g. TanStack Query) and design systems

  • Experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (especially GitHub Actions) and a strong testing culture

  • Solid understanding of version control with Git

  • Understanding of security best practices and data protection

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent communication abilities and proven track record of successful team collaboration

Given what we do, experience in financial services, fintech and business-to-business organisations is particularly interesting to us.

We hire for range

What you're like as a person and how you treat people is a big deal for us. People love working with you. You're helpful and generous with your time and knowledge. People love helping you back. People know where they stand with you.

You're always looking to learn and grow, on a personal and professional level. And you're always looking to help others learn and grow by sharing your own knowledge and experience.

You know why diversity, equality, inclusion and belonging matters, and speak up when we can do better.

What this role could turn into

Our engineers here grow in whichever direction their interests pull them. Some deepen their specialism and move toward staff or principal tracks in specific technologies; some stay broad and take on architecture across whole product areas; others step into engineering management. Joining as a fullstack engineer doesn't mean giving up your specialism - it means choosing where to deepen it with more context.
