Technical Lead J2EE Developer | Digital Channels

Dublin | Hybrid | 12-Month Contract

Our client, a global financial institution, is seeking a Technical Lead Java Developer to join a high-profile Digital Channels team delivering strategic initiatives across payments, treasury, transaction banking and API services.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role within a global engineering team responsible for building and enhancing customer-facing digital platforms used by multinational corporations, financial institutions and government organisations worldwide.

You'll play a key role in the full software delivery lifecycle, working closely with business and technology stakeholders to design, build and deliver enterprise-scale solutions in a fast-paced Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of large-scale digital banking applications.
• Drive technical delivery from requirements through to deployment.
• Develop secure, scalable microservices and API-based solutions.
• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, architects and engineering teams globally.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to developers.
• Champion engineering best practices, code quality and secure software development.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across multiple systems.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and technology strategy.

Required Experience

• 5+ years' Java development experience with strong knowledge of Java, JEE and Spring.
• Experience building microservices and container-based applications.
• Strong understanding of secure application development and cybersecurity best practices.
• Experience working with enterprise databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB or similar.
• Proven ability to deliver projects from inception through to production.
• Strong Agile delivery experience.
• Experience with source control and software configuration management tools such as Bitbucket.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and drive delivery in a global team environment.

Nice to Have

• Banking or financial services experience.
• Knowledge of Treasury, Payments or Transaction Banking.
• Exposure to cloud technologies and distributed systems.
• Experience building capital markets or investment banking applications.
• Understanding of messaging technologies, networking and enterprise integration patterns.
