Senior Atlassian Technical Consultant – Day Rate Contract – Remote from EU

We are looking for an experienced Senior Atlassian Technical Consultant to join our team and provide expert-level consultancy, administration, architecture, automation, and technical delivery across Jira and Confluence Data Center and Cloud.

This is a hands-on technical role for someone who has demonstrable industry experience working with Jira and Confluence at large-scale, complex organisations. You will work directly with stakeholders to understand business requirements, translate them into robust Atlassian solutions, and deliver and support those solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Jira and Confluence Data Center and Cloud, providing technical guidance and best practice across large-scale implementations.

Design, configure, administer, and optimise Jira and Confluence environments, ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, secure, and aligned to business requirements.

Lead the design and implementation of Jira configurations, including:

Project schemes

Workflows and workflow schemes

Custom fields and field configurations

Screen and screen schemes

Permission and notification schemes

Dashboards and filters

Cross-team reporting and data visibility

Work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements, challenge where appropriate, and translate business needs into effective technical solutions.

Develop sophisticated automation, integrations, and custom business logic using Jira and Confluence REST APIs, webhooks, scripting, SDKs, and relevant Atlassian development frameworks.

Design and implement integrations between Atlassian products and other enterprise platforms.

Evaluate, configure, and support Atlassian Marketplace applications, selecting the appropriate solutions for business and technical requirements.

Provide technical leadership and mentoring to other Atlassian administrators and engineers.

Troubleshoot complex Jira and Confluence issues and provide expert guidance on platform architecture, configuration, performance, and scalability.

Ensure solutions follow appropriate governance, security, change management, and engineering standards.

Essential Experience & Skills

5+ years of demonstrable industry experience as a Jira/Confluence administrator, engineer, technical consultant, or equivalent.

Extensive hands-on experience with Jira and Confluence Data Center and Cloud within large-scale or enterprise organisations.

Strong understanding and practical experience of Jira administration, including project schemes, workflows, custom fields, screens, permissions, notifications, dashboards, and reporting.

Significant experience designing and implementing Jira/Confluence automation and integrations.

Strong technical capability with:

Jira and Confluence REST APIs

Webhooks

Scripting

Atlassian SDKs and APIs

Forge and/or other Atlassian app frameworks

Custom integrations and business logic

Hands-on experience with major Atlassian Marketplace applications, such as eazyBI, ScriptRunner, Comala, Structure, Zephyr, or comparable enterprise applications.

Strong understanding of how Atlassian products can be configured and extended to support complex business processes.

Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to engage confidently with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Ability to gather requirements, assess options, explain technical trade-offs, and deliver pragmatic solutions.

Experience working in large, complex, enterprise environments with multiple teams, projects, and stakeholder groups.
