Senior Automation Test Engineer - Daily Rate Contract

📍 Dublin | Hybrid (3 days onsite)

We're hiring a Senior Automation Test Engineer to join a global payments technology team working on large-scale distributed platforms. This is an opportunity to play a key role in improving quality, reliability and release confidence across complex Java-based systems, while helping drive modern automation and performance testing practices.

What you'll be doing:

  • Designing, building and maintaining automation frameworks across API, integration and end-to-end testing layers

  • Developing automated test solutions for distributed Java microservices environments

  • Integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and improving quality gates

  • Leading performance testing activities using JMeter and BlazeMeter

  • Creating and maintaining test data strategies, service virtualisation and test environments

  • Performing API and protocol-level testing across HTTP services and SFTP workflows

  • Contributing to resilience and chaos testing initiatives to validate system behaviour under failure conditions

  • Working closely with Software Engineers, SREs, Product teams and other stakeholders to embed quality throughout the development lifecycle

  • Mentoring team members and promoting automation testing best practices

What they're looking for:

  • Strong experience in Automation Testing, Quality Engineering or Software Development in Test (SDET) roles

  • Experience testing distributed Java applications and microservices-based architectures

  • Strong automation framework development experience

  • Hands-on experience with API and integration testing

  • Strong performance testing experience using JMeter

  • Experience working within CI/CD environments

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Experience working in Agile software delivery environments

Nice to have:

  • BlazeMeter experience

  • Contract testing experience

  • Service virtualisation and mocking tools

  • SFTP workflow testing experience

  • Exposure to resilience or chaos engineering practices

  • Experience working within large-scale cloud environments

Additional Information:

  • Daily rate contract

  • Initial 12-month contract with strong extension potential
