Key requirements
Must-have
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring, and Spring Boot
- Proven development experience using Python (Flask, FastAPI, or Django)
- Experience developing REST APIs, microservices, and modern enterprise applications
- Knowledge of React and modern web technologies
- Experience with application modernisation and cloud-ready architecture
- Understanding of AI-assisted software engineering practices and modern development tooling
- Experience with DB2, SQL Server, SQL optimisation, and database performance tuning
- Knowledge of Linux/Unix, Apache, Tomcat, Ansible, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines
Nice-to-have
- Experience within Market Risk, Investment Banking, or Capital Markets technology
- Exposure to platforms such as Sailfish, CloudRack, or Quartz
- Experience leading or contributing to enterprise platform upgrade programmes
- Knowledge of password vaulting, key rotation, and security remediation initiatives
- Familiarity with production support, monitoring, logging, and post-release validation processes
- Experience driving engineering automation and DevOps best practices
Experience: Senior-level, hands-on engineering in large, regulated enterprise environments, ideally in banking or financial services.

Senior Platform Engineer
12-month contract, Hybrid - Dublin
About the Company
Our client is a leading global bank with a strong presence across capital markets, risk management, and financial services. Their technology organisation is at the forefront of driving digital transformation, delivering resilient, secure, and scalable platforms that support critical business functions. As part of ongoing investment in platform engineering and application modernisation, they are expanding their Market Risk Technology team to enhance engineering capabilities, strengthen operational resilience, and accelerate the adoption of modern development practices and AI-enabled engineering.
About the Position
We are looking for an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to join the Market Risk Technology team, supporting the modernisation and engineering of business-critical risk platforms.
This is a hands-on engineering role with a strong focus on application modernisation, platform upgrades, technology currency, and enterprise remediation. You will work across multiple technology platforms, contributing to software development, automation, production support improvements, and operational risk reduction while driving remediation initiatives through to successful closure.
Working closely with Development, Platform Engineering, Infrastructure, Cyber Security, Database Administration, Governance, QA, Production Support, and senior stakeholders, you will coordinate complex remediation programmes, validate implementation plans, support platform upgrades, and ensure compliance, audit readiness, and operational excellence across Market Risk applications.
Key Responsibilities

Developing and maintaining enterprise applications using Java (Spring Boot) and Python.

Modernising legacy applications and helping migrate towards more cloud-ready architectures.

Building and maintaining REST APIs and microservices.

Working with React where required for front-end changes.

Supporting platform upgrades and remediation programmes (e.g. vulnerabilities, end-of-life technologies).

Improving CI/CD pipelines and automation using Jenkins and Ansible.

Working closely with Infrastructure, Security, DBAs, Production Support and Governance teams.

Helping reduce operational risk by improving resilience and stability across Market Risk systems.
Experience/Requirements
-
Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring and Spring Boot.

Proven development experience using Python, including frameworks such as Flask, FastAPI or Django.

Experience developing REST APIs, microservices, and modern enterprise applications.

Knowledge of React and modern web technologies.
-
Experience with application modernisation, legacy platform transformation, and cloud-ready architecture.

Strong understanding of AI-assisted software engineering practices and modern development tooling.

Experience with DB2, SQL Server, SQL optimisation, and database performance tuning.

Good knowledge of Linux/Unix, Apache, Tomcat, Ansible, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines.

Experience delivering technology upgrades, vulnerability remediation, compliance initiatives, NPT/EOL programmes, and operational risk reduction.

Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and drive remediation activities from planning through implementation and closure.

Excellent communication skills with experience providing updates to technical and senior business stakeholders.

Experience working within large, regulated enterprise environments, ideally in banking or financial services.

Remuneration Package
Up to €750 on a Daily Rate.
