Full job description

Build the product. Hire the team.

Work directly with the founder to shape what comes next.

Hands-on Tech Lead | Fintech | Up to €120k | Remote, Ireland / UK

I’m working with a fintech startup looking for someone to become the founder’s technical number two.

This is a proper startup. You’ll be writing code, making architecture decisions and getting features into production. You’ll also help hire and manage the engineering team around you, with the founder keen to start building that team straight away.

The hands-on work will remain a big part of your job for the foreseeable future.

You’ll work closely with Sharon, the founder, to turn business priorities into software that works. That means challenging ideas, explaining trade-offs and deciding what needs building now and what can wait.

The product connects financial advisers and institutions, bringing fragmented financial data together securely and with customer consent. There are real engineering problems here: tenant isolation, authentication, financial APIs, reliable data flows and auditable systems.

Java / Spring Boot / Azure / PostgreSQL / Kubernetes.

You’ll take ownership of:

  • Backend development, architecture and production reliability

  • Technical priorities and engineering standards

  • Hiring, mentoring and managing a growing team

  • Working through product and delivery decisions with the founder

You’ll need strong backend engineering experience in financial services, experience leading engineers, and the appetite to roll your sleeves up. Java is central, though strong Kotlin, C# or Go experience is welcome. AWS/GCP experience transfers if you’re open to Azure.

This could suit a Tech Lead who wants to build a team, or an Engineering Manager who still loves coding and wants to stay close to the product.

If you want to help build both the software and the engineering team behind it, let’s talk.

Up to €120,000 | Remote, Ireland / UK
