About Phorest
Phorest started in 2002 on a busy salon reception desk as a simple text-reminder tool.
Today Phorest builds software and AI-powered tools used by more than 155,000 hair, beauty and medspa professionals worldwide. We’re a product-led SaaS company solving real-world problems across bookings, payments, marketing and business management, with a big focus on building great experiences for both the businesses we serve and the people who use our products. Everything we build helps the salon and medspa industry thrive.
We’re also a Certified B Corp, and 25% of the company is owned by Phoresters. When the company grows, everyone has a stake in that.
More about the team
Our ambition is to become the number one platform for premium hair, beauty and aesthetics businesses globally. For our Product & Engineering teams, that means understanding the people behind those businesses and building thoughtful, reliable products that make a real difference to how they work.
Our Business Systems team helps Phorest scale by connecting the systems, data and workflows our teams rely on every day. From onboarding salons to making the right information available when it’s needed, we help our colleagues deliver a great experience for the businesses we serve. You’ll thrive here if you enjoy working at pace, asking thoughtful questions and bringing clarity to complex problems.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Business Systems QA Engineer to help make our internal tools and integrations reliable, easy to use and built on accurate, consistent data.
You’ll bring quality into the conversation from the start, working closely with product managers, designers and developers to spot risks early and test throughout development—not just before release. You’ll take ownership of test planning and delivery within your domain, combining hands-on testing with reusable automation.
Your work will support initiatives such as our Internal Customer 360 View, a client onboarding hub, and the data flows and migrations connecting platforms including Salesforce, Gainsight and our Internal account management systems. By making sure these systems work well together, you’ll help our teams spend less time troubleshooting and more time supporting salons and medispas.
What You'll Do
Build quality in from the start
-
Work with product managers, designers and developers throughout the feature lifecycle, reviewing designs and stories to identify gaps, ambiguities and risks before they become defects.
-
Create practical test strategies and plans, prioritise coverage, and manage testing through to feature sign-off before release.
-
Bring a quality perspective to standups, planning and backlog discussions, helping the team agree clear expectations for what’s ready to ship.
Test connected systems and data -
Lead QA for internal business systems and integrations, including our Internal Customer 360 View and client onboarding hub.
-
Validate end-to-end workflows and data consistency across platforms such as Salesforce, OAK, Gainsight, Zapier and Zendesk.
-
Plan and carry out validation for complex data migrations, checking that information remains accurate and complete as it moves between systems.
-
Monitor and troubleshoot data flows, investigate issues, and help developers reproduce errors and verify fixes.
Strengthen automation and release confidence -
Develop, document and maintain reusable automated regression suites, following established testing patterns.
-
Combine manual and automated testing to give the team confidence in new features and changes to existing workflows.
-
Work with developers to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
-
Identify, report and prioritise defects, tracking them through to resolution.
Help the team keep improving -
Champion shared ownership of quality and a shift-left approach, so testing and risk conversations happen early and continuously.
-
Challenge ways of working constructively and suggest improvements to testing, tooling and team practices.
-
Share knowledge, support and mentor colleagues, and contribute to QA alignment discussions across Phorest.
-
Stay curious about new technologies and approaches, choosing solutions that make a practical difference.
Who You Are
You’re curious about how systems work together and care about the details that make them dependable. You’re comfortable owning QA within your domain, asking for guidance when it helps, and working with others to solve problems. You can explain risks clearly and help a team make thoughtful decisions about quality.
You’ll have:
- 4+ years’ experience in software quality assurance, with hands-on experience in both manual and automated testing.
- Experience using automation frameworks such as Cypress, Playwright or Maestro, and writing maintainable tests that follow established patterns.
- Strong test planning and management skills, including creating test cases, prioritising coverage and supporting release sign-off.
- Experience testing integrations, data flows and migrations, with an eye for data accuracy, consistency and end-to-end reliability.
- Familiarity with integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, working alongside developers.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, including investigating defects and helping others reproduce them.
- Clear, collaborative communication and a willingness to question assumptions and suggest better ways of working.
- A shift-left mindset and a commitment to learning, sharing knowledge and making quality a team responsibility.
Experience with platforms such as Salesforce, OAK, Gainsight, Zapier or Zendesk would be helpful.
